1000 Words

Lately, I keep getting distracted from fanfiction by my original story. It's stretching my inspiration pretty thin! That said, I've been picturing a lot of SasuHina scenes when I'm falling asleep in lectures, and that's usually a sign that another oneshot for Serendipity is looming on the horizon. Newer stories really hog the spotlight, don't they?

I also mapped out a bit more of Memento chapter 2, but no actual writing was done this week. Hope next week gives me something to work with. I had a NaruSaku drabble idea in my head... and then I went to uni and forgot what it was!

Number forty! I'm getting that cringing feeling when I think about earlier drabbles in this fic. Imagine my reaction when I read stuff I wrote in grade 4 XD

I think they're updating properly now. Like I said though, you guys didn't miss out on much XD Precious People actually lost 100 words in the rewriting process. The good news though? After complete stalemate since the story has been published, I finally had a brief spurt of inspiration for Memento! I've been tentatively working on it in the past few days. Maybe this will get somewhere ;)

I. Am so slow. I only just realised that the blog wasn't updating OTL I've been posting sporadic updates but it looks like you guys haven't been seeing them. I've fiddled around and hopefully things are working again. So let me know if you guys can see this post!

Honestly though, you haven't missed out on much XD The progress meters haven't been updating either (fixing those soon) but you'll probably find the numbers aren't that different. I've been doing more editing than writing. I am cooking up some drabbles though! There will probably be a few rapid drabble updates in the near future, to make up for the lack of life with the multichapter stories.

Sometimes I suddenly realise just how many ongoing stories I'm juggling and feel overwhelmed. It's pretty common for me to find myself opening the chapter for Precious People, sticking in two slow sentences, and then switch over to see if I'll have better luck with Halcyon Days. I think I'm reaching that point where I need to forcefully focus on just one story at a time, even though I want so badly to write for all of them. It's sad to admit that I don't feel as attached to fanfiction as I used to. So whoever is still hanging around - talk to me? Let me know which stories you like most. Prod and nag me when it looks like I've gone dead again. Just saying hi reminds me of the fanfiction world - real life is pretty intent on giving me no time to think about it. I've always written for myself, but the thought that people will read my crazy stories keeps me at it (the thought that I keep you guys waiting for updates makes me guilty though XD). My break ended up being a lot busier than I thought it'd be. I was really looking forward to finishing a chapter for one of my stories, but if you've been watching the meters, you must've noticed that they haven't moved ==; Man, writing never used to be this hard! I sat down today and slowly added two sentences to Precious People... and that was as far as I got. Every time I try to work on my older stories, my attention always ends up going to the two drabble fics... or one of the many unpublished stories in the folder... or brainstorming an original story...

Sigh. I guess I always knew that older stories end up with the short straw in the long run, especially after leaving them for so long. It's hard to override your colourful new ideas with old ones. Still not giving up though! If I need to wait for sudden streaks of inspiration, then I will hunker down and do just that. At least the drabble fics kinda keep me in shape.

Only a few more days of break left... I hope that inspiration comes soon! Right now would be nice!

After seven of these little demons, I finally realised that I should stop calling them drabbles because they're all so long! Technically the NaruSaku drabbles aren't short enough to be real drabbles, but coming from someone who likes to write 10K chapters, they are so drabbles XD

I probably don't need to point out that I've whipped up a storm of drabbles since I've been back in writing, haha. It's hard to pick up multichapter stories so quickly so I've been warming up. The meters haven't moved yet because I ended up working on Masquerade, my unpublished fic. I'd really like to get Precious People updated though. I'll try my best to get some writing for that in!

It's almost 1 am right now so my brain should be dead. But I just had a flash of inspiration there and realised that I haven't written a stand alone oneshot in a while. I'll sleep on it XD Goodnight!

Hyuuga fics were one of the first things I wrote when I started getting into fanfiction. Years later, I still love them :)

I'm going to try and focus a bit more on my multichapter stories now. It's hard to say which one will be updated first. I feel a bit detached from what I've already written simply because it's been so long since I revisited. When I get back in the groove, the update meters will give it away.

Firstly - I'm sorry I broke my promise of providing an update every week. Please forgive me! DX

Secondly - here is my excuse (coming from me, it's quite legitimate this time!). Right after the second week of the new update scheme, my computer decided to crash and die an anticipated death. Luckily I had just bought a new laptop but losing my desktop, which was very much my main computer, still left me a whole bunch of technological issues to sort out. University kept me on my toes so it took weeks for me to find time to crack open my old tower, dig out my hard drive and rescue my fanfiction folder (my life would be over if I lost that). It took another few weeks for me to survive exam stress and even though I'm technically not finished with them yet, I feel like I have enough time to deliver this long overdue update for the ones who have been waiting for it.

To make up for it, I've hashed out precisely 3362 words for Halcyon Days over the past two days :D I was going to put off this update until I had finished the chapter as proper compensation but today I got into writing a SasuHina drabble fic when I should've been studying for chemistry, and decided to post that instead. I know it's strange to see stories that aren't Naruto or Sakura-centric from me, but I hope some poeple can still enjoy it!

That their lives had been mapped for them since birth was not a maybe. But, just maybe, their futures had always been on a crash course for each other's, right from the very start. A collection of SasuHina oneshots. Non-massacre AU.

I do want to make sure that it's clear that I'm not suddenly writing SasuHina because I admittedly favour NaruSaku and therefore it must follow that SasuHina is the next logical solution. I've said before that I'm very open to pairings. It's a bit meticulous to have to say this but I'm aware that a lot of people consider me a NaruSaku author and while I don't plan on denying that, I'd like to avoid pairing wars popping up anywhere. I want to remind people that writing is meant to be fun, that's all :)

I will keep this update scheme going for as long as I can, or until I start to see that it's not viable. Honestly, I don't think I can come up with something every week but if this can get to me to update even one story, it's worth a shot XD

I have uni exams coming up so I don't think I'll have time to write anything this week. I did manage to work out how to put certain scenes together in Precious People though (I'm almost completely winging this story but it's been fun so far). Uni really kills my free time x.x

Hope everyone had a nice Easter :) I used my break to do heaps of catching up on uni work but I also managed to squeeze in a bit of writing one night.

- Reworked parts of Precious People chapter I'd already written + wrote 140 words
- Wrote 1407 words for Masquerade (yes, just a slight bit of difference in inspiration there)

Hypothermia

After dying under my uni workload for a whole month, I realised that I wasn't giving myself enough time for leisure, like writing. So I decided that I'd do my best to do uni stuff on weekdays, and free up weekends for my own time - which is the way it's supposed to be. What this means is that if any writing happens, it will most likely be at the end of the week. So! Here's the deal:

I joined FF.net when I was fifteen. Three years later, writing has slowed down a lot and I admit it isn't as high on the priority list as it used to be, but it's been a fun trip and I want to keep it going for any readers still around, both old and new. Once I get my uni workload under control, I'll try to spend at least a few hours writing on the days I don't have school. Which means stuff be happening on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays!

Every week, on one of these three days, I'll post an update on this blog about what I've been working on. The content will probably be about one of these things:
a) 'I present thee with this fresh drabble/oneshot'
b) 'I buckled down and wrote ____ words for (insert story)'
c) 'I'm being mysterious and wrote ____ words for a story that can't be found anywhere on the internet. Yet'
d) 'Higuysi'mkindadyingwithschoolthisweeksosorryhaveafreecookieandi'llseeyounextweek!'

In other words, check back every week or so to see what's happening. I know it'll be hard to please everyone since I have so many ongoing stories and I'm not making leaps of progress with either. Still, I figured this would be better than staying below radar for months and then whipping up a 'Yo! I'm still alive!'

Give me a week or two to catch up with uni, and then I'll be doing some regular writing. Be it one sentence at a time or a whole chapter in a weekend, I'm aiming to keep my creative juices flowing. Let's hope I can keep this system going for longer than just a few weeks, haha.

Boyfriend vs Sisterhood

I failed to finish a chapter for one of my ongoing stories, so I'm going to hide behind this drabble XD I did have a big heap of fun writing this though, and may write another drabble tomorrow to make up for my lack of activity. I'm starting uni in two days and drabbles will probably be more common than chapter updates, but I'll keep writing and hopefully keep the ball rolling.

I couldn't finish chapter 18 of Precious People because I got blindsided by inspiration for a fic I've had in the drawing boards. Yes, the same story I've been dropping not so subtle hints about for just about half a year. I'm tired of describing it like this every time, so let's called it Masquerade for future reference.

Ah, that is so much better.

Anyway, I was on an inspiration rush for Precious People before Masquerade hijacked it out of the blue. I'd rather have finished Precious People's chapter because even though I'm still writing, Masquerade is being worked on behind the scenes and I can't post it yet. That's why I sometimes prioritise Masquerade and hope to get it done as quickly as possible, so I can go back to my usual fics. But if you can't tell, things don't always go to plan...

I know I've been pretty inactive lately. Sorry about that! I'm nearing the end of my beloved holidays and getting ready for university has been swallowing up a lot of my time lately, and there are days when I don't feel like writing. Hopefully I can get a chapter for one of my stories up before I start uni at the beginning of March. If I can't, then expect a drabble XD Fingers crossed!

Here's a quick update:

1) FANARTTTTTT! <3 xXEdwardxSakuraXx drew a picture of Team 8 from Precious People! There may be more coming, too! I am a very happy munchkin. Check it out here =D

2) FANFICCCCC! Fanfic of a fanfic? Wolfone10 wrote his version of an ending to Blossom In My Eyes. It's quite innovative! Give it a read here.

2.5) My own ending to Blossom is still non-existent at the moment, what with me lost about what note to finish the story on. No guarantees, but there a slim chance the ending may contradict something I've said before and surprise some people XD But again, no guarantees.

3) I'm currently reworking chapter 18 of Precious People. What I'd written before didn't gel with the story and had quite a bit of bad writing in it. Sometimes I forget that I'm winging this story, because I have canon to guide me with the major events. Only when I get to the smaller details do I stop and realise I'm stuck, haha.

4) I'll admit that in the past two months I've occasionally wondered if I'll ever finish all my stories. I haven't even started uni and writing has already taken a backseat. I guess it's because I've had these current stories with me for so long that sometimes I'm driven by obligation rather than interest. But! That doesn't mean I don't love my stories. I stand by my promise that I won't abandon them (and if I ever do, it will be announced) but be prepared for long lapses between updates - not to mention I have no idea when the stories will be finished. I'll be busy, of course, but the main reason why I don't always write when I have free time is because I've found that I always end up scrapping that progress. The best writing is always driven by inspiration. I'll be patient with writing, so I hope you guys can be patient with the reading XD

5) It looks like FF.net has disabled external links in profiles, so I've put links in italics for now. And is it just me, or are the center alignment and ruler features not working on profiles? o.o

As expected, this story is so much easier to write now that Naruto's in the modern world. The canon Naruto universe is... complicated. No wonder people like AUs XD
